State of emergency introduced in three villages of Batken region due to border incident

Bishkek, April 29, 2021. / Kabar /. A state of emergency was introduced in three villages of Batken region, the press service of the Batken regional administration said. The state of emergency was introduced on April 28 in the villages of Ak-Tatyr, Ak-Sai, Samarkandek due to the incident occurred between residents of the two countries on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border in Batken region. At the moment, the situation on the border is tense, the Border Service said. The situation in the Kocho-Boyu area of Batken region has deteriorated on April 29 at about 4:40 a.m. The reason for the aggravation of the situation was the provocative actions of citizens of Tajikistan who started throwing stones at Kyrgyz citizens and their houses. Subsequently, the Tajik side started shooting at passing cars of Kyrgyz citizens with hunting rifles. As a result of the incident, 4 citizens of Kyrgyzstan were injured, one of whom received a gunshot wound to the eye. Three were injured while throwing stones.
