SCO observer mission recognizes Kyrgyzstan's presidential elections as legitimate

Bishkek, Jan. 11, 2021. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan’s early presidential elections and the referendum were held in accordance with the legislation of the republic and international requirements, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Vladimir Norov said during a press conference.
He said the SCO observation mission found no violations of the national election legislation.
"The mission recognizes the presidential elections and the referendum as open, free and legitimate," Norov said.
"The Constitution and constitutional law on the elections of president and deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh and the law on the appointment of the referendum, as well as other normative documents formed the basis of the legal framework of the Kyrgyz Republic. Information services were used during the voting, the purpose of which was the implementation of information processes during the election period, the collection, collation and circulation of information on preliminary results and turnout," he said.
The SCO secretary general also noted the conditions for the voting for people with disabilities were created.
In addition, Norov drew attention to the fact that equal conditions for campaigning were created for all presidential candidates.
