President Jeenbekov’s address to nation on Kyrgyz Language Day

Bishkek, Sept. 23, 2020 /Kabar/. Today, Sept. 23, President Sooronbay Jeenbekov congratulated the people of Kyrgyzstan on Kyrgyz Language Day. Below is the text of the Kyrgyz president’s congratulations: "Dear compatriots! I congratulate you on the State Language Day. The state language is a great heritage of ancestors, the main symbol of our statehood. The Kyrgyz language has come a long and difficult way in thirty one years after acquiring the status of the state language. The state language has become not only a means of mutual communication, but also the language of law and public administration. Of course, there are also shortcomings. In the era of digitalization there is a task of further development of the Kyrgyz language to make it a language of science and new technologies. Our goal is to widely introduce the Kyrgyz language into the practice of life, so that it becomes a truly common language of all nationalities living in our country. The language policy is based on the comprehensive use of the state language as an important factor in strengthening the unity of the people of Kyrgyzstan. Dear compatriots, may the Kyrgyz language, which created the world's greatest Manas epic, be eternal. May the Almighty bless us, and may there always be prosperity in our people and peace on our land!” The State Language Day is celebrated in the country annually on Sept. 23 in honor of the adoption of the Law “On the State Language of the Kyrgyz SSR” by the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR in 1989. This year Kyrgyzstan celebrates 31st anniversary of the state language.
