Parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan are example for Turkic-speaking countries - TURKPA mission

It was an open and truly democratic elections, which is an example for Turkic-speaking countries, Head of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries (TURKPA) mission, deputy of Turkey’s Grand National Assembly of Turkey Ismet Uchma said at a press conference. Speaking about the outcomes of the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan, Uchma noted that in terms of democracy, young Kyrgyzstan was able to outpace countries where the principles of freedom have been realized for 200-300 years. "We believe that the elections can be considered certified," he said. "We have seen that opposition parties have also been able to exercise their rights. And during the election campaign, all conditions were met despite the difficult period of the pandemic," he said. Ismet Uchma also noted that during the voting all security measures and social distance were respected. Besides, the head of TURKPA mission drew attention to the fact that all norms on quotas for women, disabled people and youth were observed, as well as not using administrative resources. "We see benefits in using automatic systems during elections," he said. Representative of Azerbaijan in the TURKPA mission added the elections were indeed held in a democratic manner. Yesterday, Oct. 4 a parliamentary elections were held in Kyrgyzstan. Turnout made 1 million 980 thousand 240 voters, that is 56,2%. According to preliminary estimates of the country’s Central Elections Commission, 4 parties have overcome the 7% barrier - Birimdik - 24.53%; Mekenim Kyrgyzstan - 23.9%; Kyrgyzstan- 8.74%; Butun Kyrgyzstan – 7,09 %. Kyrgyzstan’s CEC will announce the final results of the parliamentary elections no later than 20 days from the day of voting.
