Osh farmers exchange international experience in Andijan

Osh, Aug. 6. 2018. / Kabar /. Farmers of Osh oblast took part in the International scientific and practical seminar "Field Day", which was held in Andijan region under the auspices of the Ministries of Agriculture of Russia and Uzbekistan. New varieties and hybrids of soybean, sunflower, corn, sorghum and other agricultural crops of Russian selection and agrotechnology adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of the Fergana Valley, were demonstrated within the framework of the seminar. The event was attended by 54 farmers and government representatives from Osh oblast of Kyrgyzstan, as well as participants from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan who were able to discuss with scientists and experts from Russia the possibility of expanding the use of seeds of new varieties of cereals and oil crops in Central Asia. "Seeing the successful experience of our neighbors, we had a great desire to try to do the same in Kyrgyzstan. The diversity of soybean, chickpea sorghum and other leguminous cultures was especially surprising, as well as their high yield potential," said Ainisa Aitibaeva, a member of the grain farming enterprise from Kyrgyzstan. Following the results of the event, an agreement was reached with representatives from Russia on the initiation of joint activities in the field of development of soybean, corn and sunflower production in Osh oblast, including cooperation with processing and related industries through the development and introduction of modern technologies for growing, supplying highly productive seeds and biologics, qualifications of local specialists. Participation of farmers and representatives of state bodies of Osh oblast was initiated and supported by UNDP program "Integrated development of Osh oblast", funded by the Russian Federation.
