Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan discuss implementation of joint projects on convergence of peoples

Bishkek, Aug. 26, 2020 /Kabar/. Director of Kyrgyzstan’s State Agency for Local Self-Government and Inter-Ethnic Relations (SALSGIER) Bakhtiyar Saliyev met on Wednesday with Uzbek Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Khurshid Mirzakhidov. According to SALSGIER’s press service, during the meeting, Director Saliyev briefed the Uzbek ambassador on the activities of the agency, the work being done in the sphere of interethnic relations and the development of local self-government. The sides discussed the identified plans for further cooperation within the signed Memorandum of Cooperation between SALSGIER and Uzbekistan’s Committee for Inter-Ethnic and Friendly Relations with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers. Also, SALSGIER Head Bakhtiyar Saliyev and Ambassador Mirzakhidov exchanged views on the implementation of ethnic policy, development of local self-government, development and implementation of joint projects to bring together the peoples of the two countries, strengthening and development of public diplomacy, promoting cross-border cooperation with the involvement of civil society. Besides, exchange of visits between ethnic public associations of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyz Republic was discussed.
