Kyrgyzstan to take from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan 1.6 billion kWh of electricity and return in parts

Bishkek, July 6, 2021. / Kabar /. Head of the Electricity Department of the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Kyrgyzstan Marat Jeenbekov told at a press conference how the country plans to successfully pass the upcoming heating-winter period in conditions of low water. He said that in order to provide the population of the country and the economy with uninterrupted electric power, electricity has been generating at the existing hydroelectric power plants, the load on the thermal power plant is underway. “In addition, we signed a protocol on commodity exchange with Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. With Kazakhstan for 900 million kWh, and with Uzbekistan 750 million kWh. In 2021, we will receive 900 million kWh from Kazakhstan and will return annually 300 million kWh until 2023. We take 500 million kWh from Uzbekistan this year and 250 million kWh in 2022. Kyrgyzstan will return to Uzbekistan annually 250 million kWh until 2023,” he said. He noted that there is a way out of the energy crisis and it is the responsibility of all consumers, he called for more efficient use of available resources.
