Kyrgyzstan to receive 60 thsd doses of Sputnik V vaccine in mid-May

Kyrgyzstan will receive 60,000 doses of the Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V in mid-May, Director of the Republican Immunoprophylaxis Center Gulbara Ishenapysova told Kabar News Agency. She added that the second batch of the Russian vaccine is expected to arrive. "Now the Jogorku Kenesh Committee is considering this issue. Funds were allocated from the republican budget to purchase the vaccine. Russia is allocating 5,000 doses of vaccine as aid, and Kyrgyzstan will buy the rest", Ishenapysova said. The director of the Center noted the purchase of the vaccine is carried out within the framework of the agreements reached, and coronavirus vaccines are expected to arrive by May 20. Kyrgyzstan has started COVID-19 vaccination campaign on March 29 using China-donated vaccine after receiving 150 thousand doses of the Sinopharm vaccine from the Chinese manufacturer Beijing Institute of Biological Product Co. Ltd on March 19. The vaccination is carried out twice, with an interval of 25-28 days. No side effects have been reported after immunization with this vaccine. In addition, the first batch of the Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V in the amount of 20,000 doses was delivered to Bishkek on April 22.
