Kyrgyzstan to receive 500 thsd doses of Russian COVID-19 vaccine within 2-3 months

Bishkek, Jan. 19, 2021 / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan will receive 500 thousand doses of Russian vaccine against coronavirus, Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic Alymkadyr Beishenaliev told speaking on the air of Birinchi radio. He said that Kyrgyzstan participates in the COVAX program, which provides for the testing of anti-coronavirus vaccines. Under the Program, Kyrgyzstan will receive 8 types of vaccines. Documents for the first vaccine - Pfizer have already arrived. However, these vaccines should be stored at -70 degrees below zero. “We don't have such refrigerators. Only rich countries acquire these. We turned to the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic. To supply such refrigerators only in big cities, it will take USD 2 million. Therefore, we again want to turn to the COVAX program for 8 other vaccines, ”he said. The head of the Ministry of Health also noted that three Russian vaccines against COVID-19 were not included in the Kovacs program. He said that Kyrgyzstan asked Russia for 500,000 doses of vaccines. The Russian side agreed. “This issue will be resolved in the near future. To store these vaccines, refrigerators are needed between 2 and 20 degrees of cold chain preservation. We have several such refrigerators for storing vaccines against other viruses. But this is not enough, we need more, we asked the Ministry of Finance for this. Preparations are underway, we will receive vaccines within 2-3 months,” he added.
