Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan discuss topical issues of cooperation

A bilateral meeting was held on Thursday between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev and Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan Rapil Zhoshybayev. The press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported that the meeting took place at the initiative of the Kazakh side. The sides thoroughly discussed a wide range of current issues of Kyrgyz-Kazakh relations in the political, trade and economic, cultural, humanitarian and border areas. Kazakbaev and Zhoshybayev exchanged views on the implementation of an agreements reached between presidents of the two countries, as well as on cooperation within international organizations and regional associations. Minister Kazakbaev expressed gratitude for the humanitarian assistance provided by the Kazakh side as part of ensuring food security, as well as to combat the spread of coronavirus infection pandemic. In this regard, Ambassador Zhoshybayev informed the Kazakh side is working on the issue of providing 1000 tons of high-yield winter wheat seeds as a grant aid this year. In terms of trade, economic and investment cooperation, the interlocutors exchanged views on the activation of the Business Council, accelerating the creation of joint trade and logistics centers in border areas for the convenience of agricultural producers, as well as the transit of goods. The Kyrgyz side drew special attention to the need for the soonest removal of restrictive measures on the entry of Kyrgyz citizens to Kazakhstan for the free movement and transit of citizens and vehicles on the territory of the two countries. The sides expressed intention to promote cultural and humanitarian cooperation, discussed the joint celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Kyrgyz-Kazakh relations next year. In conclusion, Foreign Minister Kazakbaev and Ambassador Zhoshybayev expressed confidence in further strengthening of close cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan in all areas of mutual interest.
