Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan discuss co-op in field of prevention and liquidation of emergency situations

Bishkek, Nov. 16, 2020. /Kabar/. Kazakhstan’s Almaty city hosted on Friday a ninth meeting of the Council of the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction (CESDRR) with a participation of heads of Emergency Ministries of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. According to the press service of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Emergency, the purpose of the event was to discuss further cooperation in the field of prevention and liquidation of emergencies of transboundary nature, the activities of the CESDRR. During a bilateral meeting of Ministers of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan Boobek Azhikeyev and Kazakhstan Yuri Ilyin held as part of the ninth meeting of the CESDRR Council, issues related to enhancing cooperation in the prevention and liquidation of emergencies was discussed. Minister Azhikeyev also met with Director of the Almaty Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction Zhergalbek Ukashev, the parties debated the future prospects of the Center. Further, the two emergency ministers discussed the need to integrate observation and early warning systems for earthquakes.
