Kyrgyzstan to host 61st meeting of International Altaistic Conference
Bishkek, Aug. 1, 2018. / Kabar /. The 61st meeting of the Permanent International Altaistic Conference (PIAC) will be held in Kyrgyzstan from Aug. 26 to 31, 2018, the press service of the Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
This decision was made following the results of the 60th conference held from Aug. 27 to Sept. 1 in Hungary, in which more than 40 scientists from Hungary, Germany, China, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Poland, Russia, Romania, Slovakia, USA, Turkey, France and Japan took part.
The PIAC is a traditional site that unites Altaistic scholars from different countries. It was established on Sept. 4, 1957 in Munich at the 24th International Congress of Orientalists.
The project was initiated and supervised by Professor Denis Siner, University of Indiana, USA. After his death, the Director of the Institute of Turkic Studies at the University of Berlin, Barbara Kelner-Heinkel (Germany), was elected Secretary General of the PIAC, which has been working in this position to this day.
Traditional annual meetings within the framework of the PIAC give the specialists an opportunity to discuss the results of scientific research in the field of studying the languages, cultures and heritage of the peoples of the Altai civilization.
Participants of the conference will take part in the events of the Third World Nomad Games.
