Kyrgyzstan expects new batch of COVID-19 vaccines to arrive soon

Bishkek, May 26, 2021 . / Kabar / . 80,000 doses of the Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V will arrive in Kyrgyzstan by the end of May, Director of the Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis Gulbara Ishenapysova told Kabar News Agency.
A total of 500,000 doses of the Russian vaccine should be delivered to Kyrgyzstan under the agreement.
“80,000 doses of the first and second components will have arrived by late May. 40,000 people will be vaccinated. These vaccines will be bought at the expense of the republican budget. Each dose costs $10," Ishenapysova said.
In addition, the immunologist noted that a shipment of AstraZeneca vaccine is expected to arrive in June under the COVAX mechanism.
"We are expecting. Deliveries are delayed. However, yesterday we received information from suppliers that the vaccine in the amount of 420,000 doses will arrive in the country around June,” Gulbara Ishenapysova concluded.
Kyrgyzstan has started COVID-19 vaccination campaign on March 29 using China-donated vaccine after receiving 150 thousand doses of the Sinopharm vaccine from the Chinese manufacturer Beijing Institute of Biological Product Co. Ltd on March 19. The vaccination is carried out twice, with an interval of 25-28 days. No side effects have been reported after immunization with this vaccine.
In addition, the first batch of the Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V in the amount of 20,000 doses was delivered to Bishkek on April 22.
According to the latest data, a total of 74,792 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 in Kyrgyzstan.
