Kyrgyzstan’s CEC finishes accepting notifications for participation in parliamentary elections
Bishkek, Oct. 14, 2021. / Kabar /. The Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan on October 13 at 18.00 completed the nomination of candidates in single-mandate constituencies for the parliamentary elections, scheduled for Nov. 28, 2021.
The press service of the CEC reported that according to the constitutional Law “On elections of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic”, a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic who has reached 25 years of age on the day of the elections, has the right to vote, and has a higher professional education can be elected a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh.
A total of 387 applications were submitted to the CEC, of which 3 candidates withdrew their applications, 3 candidates withdrew their applications and submitted applications again before the end of the term.
As of October 13, 2021, 381 candidates (31 women and 350 men) were nominated in single-mandate constituencies for deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh, of which 379 candidates were nominated by self-nomination and 8 candidates from 7 political parties.
The maximum number of candidates - 19 - were nominated in the Kadamjai constituency.
The minimum number - 4 candidates each were nominated in the Nookat and Uzgen constituencies.
The parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan will be held by using a mixed electoral system.
54 deputies are to be elected according to the proportional system in single electoral constituencies, while 36 deputies are to be elected from single-mandate constituencies on a majority basis.
