Kyrgyz Parliament speaker and President Jeenbekov have phone talks

Bishkek, Oct. 8, 2020 / Kabar /. Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Myktybek Abdyldaev spoke by phone with President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reported. The telephone conversation took place at the initiative of the President of Kyrgyzstan, during which the political situation in the country was discussed. The speaker reporting on the measures taken by the Jogorku Kenesh to stabilize the situation in the country and enter the legal field, voiced the proposals of the deputies to get out of the current situation. He also informed the president that a number of parliamentarians had initiated impeachment proceedings. Abdyldaev noted that, despite the difficulty of the taking decisions, it is necessary to take measures to get out of this situation as soon as possible. “Because the country cannot live in standby mode,” added Abdyldaev. After the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan held on Oct. 4 some political parties, who lost the elections, organized protests on Monday demanding to annul the election results. The protests rose to clashes between police and protesters. The participants of the protest action seized the Parliament building and other strategic objects, released some formed officials from jail. The country’s prime minister and parliament speaker resigned. The Central Election Commission on Tuesday annulled the results of the elections.
