Kyrgyz Interior Ministry, EU discuss strengthening and development cooperation

Bishkek, March 4, 2021. / Kabar /. Minister of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ulan Niyazbekov met on Thursday with Head of the European Union Delegation in Kyrgyzstan, Ambassador Eduard Auer.
The Kyrgyz Interior Ministry’s press service reported that during the meeting, Minister Niyazbekov noted the importance of developing a constructive dialogue with the European Union institutions in the fight against crime.
"We note with great satisfaction the implementation of joint activities in the framework of EU projects, such as the Central Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP) and the European Union Action against Drugs and Organized Crime (EU – ACT). I am also pleased to note the beginning of the LEICA regional project supporting the law enforcement and judicial authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic and Central Asia, which officially began in September 2020," Niyazbekov said.
In his turn, Eduard Auer noted the EU and Kyrgyzstan have been fruitfully cooperating for many years and projects implemented and programs operating in the republic today are examples of successful joint work.
The parties discussed the results of the Multiannual Indicative Program (MIP) 2014-2020, under which new Codes and Laws of the Kyrgyz Republic were adopted. In connection with the end of this program’s term, touched upon the prospective development of a new MIP draft for 2021-2027.
The meeting participants debated the strengthening and development of bilateral cooperation in light of upcoming interagency meetings and events.
In conclusion, Ulan Niyazbekov noted the readiness of the Interior Ministry to further fruitfully cooperate with the EU Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic.
