Kyrgyz capital city of Bishkek joins ranks of strong cities

Bishkek, Sept. 24, 2020. /Kabar/. The Bishkek Mayor's Office received an invitation from the Global Collaborative Security Centre to join the Strong Cities Network. According to the press service of the municipality, employees of the capitals Mayor’s Office have already taken part in a Strong Cities Network Regional Practitioners’ Workshop for Central Asia at the invitation of U.S. Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Donald Lu. Founded in 2018 at the UN General Assembly, the Strong Cities Network is the first global network of mayors, governors and local practitioners involved in building social cohesion and community resilience to counter and combat violent extremism in all its forms. The network currently has over 140 cities and municipalities. The program will support member cities in developing strategic programs and opportunities to enhance sustainability that protects the rights of local communities, and will include capacity building workshops and interactive training modules.
