Kyrgyz ambassador and agriculture minister of South Korea discuss issues of expanding cooperation

Bishkek, Aug. 14, 2020 / Kabar /. Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the Republic of Korea Dinara Kemelova met with Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Kim Hyeon-soo, the Kyrgyz Embassy in South Korea reported. The interlocutors discussed the possibilities of increasing trade in agricultural products, exchanging experience between specialists and farmers, developing rural regions, promoting smart farming projects, greenhouses, transferring new technologies for the production of vegetable seeds, as well as creating agricultural laboratories. The South Korean minister of agriculture noted that following the visit of the Prime Minister of Korea Lee Nak-yon to Kyrgyzstan in July 2019, work is underway to enhance cooperation in the field of agriculture. Kemelova, taking into account the available access of Kyrgyzstan to the European and Eurasian markets, proposed to the Korean side to implement joint projects in building the potential of the processing industry. Noting the work of the embassy on branding Kyrgyz honey in the Korean market, she asked for assistance in increasing the export of organic products to South Korea. The sides positively assessed the upcoming opening of the Korea Programme on International Agriculture (KOPIA) in Kyrgyzstan, which will promote cooperation in the field of agriculture and regional development. The sides also discussed the possibility of establishing cooperation between the veterinary and phytosanitary services of both countries.
