Int’l organizations provide Kyrgyzstan’s Statistics Committee with PPE for census

Bishkek, Jan. 21, 2021. /Kabar/. Representatives of international organizations in Kyrgyzstan will provide census takers with personal protective equipment, the National Statistics Committee of the republic said on Thursday. Given the circumstances, the Statistics Committee together with the Ministry of Health prepared a joint order on the algorithm of actions during the upcoming population and housing census. As a result of negotiations, the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), with the financial support of the Government of Germany purchased personal protective equipment (KN95 five-layer respirators, pocket antiseptics, non-contact thermometers, shields) for the temporary enumerators. The Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees in the Kyrgyz Republic (UNHCR) purchased 113 thousand 886 five-layer KN95 respirators for census takers. Earlier, it was reported that the census of population and housing which was to take place in 2020, is scheduled for the second half of 2021.
