Bishkek, June 14, 2021 . / Kabar / . To ensure food security in Kyrgyzstan it is necessary to unite, UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic Ozonnia Ojielo said during a press conference at Kabar News Agency. According to him, work is currently underway around the world to achieve sustainable development goals in the field of agriculture. "According to the report presented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Regional Development of Kyrgyzstan for 2020, there are difficulties with food supply in the country. To solve this issue, the state, farmers, independent people and the people themselves should unite and work together to eradicate the problem. We must work together to put the agricultural sector in order," he said. The UN representative pointed out that Kyrgyzstan's youth have limited access to land and financial resources to engage in agriculture. "In addition, the lack of knowledge and education limits their productivity," Ojielo added. In addition, Representative of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Kyrgyzstan Adnan Qureshi noted food production in Kyrgyzstan needs to be increased by 60-70%. In particular, there is need to expand the amount of land, increase yields through the use of new technologies in irrigation, and develop new varieties with higher yields.
