Germany ready to assist Kyrgyzstan in equipping correctional institutions

Bishkek, June 2, 2021. / Kabar /. Chairman of the State Service for Punishments Execution (SSPE) under the Ministry of Justice of Kyrgyzstan Askat Egemberdiyev met with Ambassador of Germany to Kyrgyzstan Monika Iversen. During the meeting, topical issues of further cooperation and interaction, including the reconstruction and equipping of correctional institutions and remand prisons with modern engineering and technical means of protection, reconstruction of socio-cultural and community facilities were discussed, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said. Egemberdiyev expressed gratitude to the German Government for support and assistance to the Kyrgyz Republic for cooperation, especially in the fight against COVID-19, and expressed hope for further support of the German side to the Government of republic. The chairman of the Punishment Execution Service informed the guests about the reforms implemented in the penal and correctional system of the republic, which include engineering and technical means of protection, as well as measures to ensure quality medical care for employees and special contingent. Monika Iversen noted the Embassy is ready to make joint efforts with the SSPE and willingness to cooperate within the competence of the German Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, including assistance with medical equipment, aimed at improving the activities of staff and professional training of prisoners.
