Film by Kyrgyz director enters Busan Film Festival competition

Bishkek, Sept. 17, 2021 . / Kabar / . The world premiere of Kyrgyz director Eldiyar Madakim's film Salvador Dali will take place at the 26th Busan International Film Festival (South Korea) to be held on Oct. 6-15, executive producer Cholpon Idrisova said. The film has been selected for the Wide Angle competition program, which showcases the best short films. The film tells the story of the director’s childhood who was raised in the mountains by his grandmother. Every day little Orozbek has to overcome long distances and cross the river to get to school. Because this is where he can get closer to his cherished dream. The film was filmed in the director's hometown, Alai region in winter of 2020. The Busan International Film Festival is the largest film festival in Asia, held annually in the South Korean city of Busan since 1996. It specializes in showing new films and works by emerging filmmakers.
