Energy minister and Chinese ambassador discuss issues of attracting investments to Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, April 13, 2021. / Kabar /. Minister of Energy and Industry of Kyrgyzstan Kubanychbek Turdubaev met with Chinese Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Du Dewen, the ministry's press service reported. During the meeting, the sides discussed the issues of building up mutually beneficial cooperation in the electric power and industrial sectors, as well as providing favorable conditions for attracting additional investments in the subsoil use. Turdubaev stressed that, within the framework of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, large projects in the field of electric power have been implemented in Kyrgyzstan, which made it possible to ensure the energy independence of the republic and the reliable operation of the entire industry. “In 2019, the trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and China reached USD 2 billion. This suggests that China is the main partner for our republic in trade and economic relations. However, due to the outbreak of the pandemic, the indicators dropped significantly. We hope that soon we will be able to increase the volume of trade and continue to work in the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation,” Turdubaev emphasized. Du Dewen, in turn, noted that Kyrgyz-Chinese relations always tend to dynamic development. “The governments of the two countries always adhere to the course of strengthening friendly, good-neighborly relations between our countries. Today our interstate relations are at the highest level of comprehensive strategic partnership,” the ambassador said. During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of the early launch and bringing to the design capacity of the Junda oil refinery in Kara-Balta, as well as simplifying the procedure for passing equipment from the China within the framework of the rehabilitation of the Toktogul and Uch-Kurgan HPPs. Following the meeting, Turdubaev and Du Dewen agreed to continue the progressive strengthening of cooperation between the two countries and make every effort to implement joint projects.
