Elections in Kyrgyzstan were fair - OIC Observer Mission

The observer mission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) highly appreciated the new technologies used in the electoral process in Kyrgyzstan, head of the delegation Mahmoud Shakir told at a briefing following the results of observing the voting process at the elections and referendum. He noted that the elections and referendum in the country were held peacefully and calmly. “The observer mission visited a large number of polling stations in Bishkek and around the capital. The mission also observed the counting process. The mission notes that the local elections and the referendum were held in accordance with the electoral legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic and international standards,” he said. The organization also praised the use of new technologies, such as automatic reading devices and the use of biometric data, he said. “The use of new technologies helped to organize fair elections. We appreciate the efforts of the CEC, which have taken protocol measures to prevent infection with COVID-19,” he concluded.
