Dzhusupov spoke about melting of glaciers and water problems in Kyrgyzstan at forum in Austria

Bishkek, June 28, 2018 / Kabar /. Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Austria Bakyt Dzhusupov spoke about the melting of glaciers and the reduction of water resources in Kyrgyzstan at the forum on innovation, environmental protection and climate change. The Kyrgyz diplomat addressed the forum at the invitation of the authorities of the federal state of Carinthia.
Dzhusupov spoke about the problems of climate change in Kyrgyzstan, including melting glaciers, reducing water resources, increasing the frequency of emergencies and natural disasters, and the disappearance of biodiversity in mountain ecosystems.
The diplomat also drew the attention of the audience to the risks associated with the uranium tailings in Kyrgyzstan, the detrimental impact on the life and health of the local population, and called on the participants to support initiatives aimed at reclamation and ensuring the safety of uranium tailings.
In addition, within the framework of the forum Dzhusupov took part in a separate side-event, where he made a presentation about Kyrgyzstan, its investment and tourism potential, talked about the Third World Nomad Games and the international initiative on the conservation of the snow leopard, and also established contacts with representatives of local authorities and business.
