CIS observers get acquainted with course of election campaign in Bishkek

Bishkek, Sept. 16, 2020 / Kabar /. The mission of observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States continues to monitor the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan, the Headquarters of the CIS Observer Mission said. Long-term observers from the CIS got acquainted with the course of the election campaign in Bishkek. The chairman of the Bishkek Territorial Election Commission, Kairat Mamatov, informed international observers about the preparations for the elections, in particular about the formation of voter lists. When visiting precinct election commissions, the mission representatives got acquainted with their technical equipment, the training for members of commissions and operators for identifying citizens by biometric data and servicing automatically reading ballot boxes. Observers from the CIS noted that equipping all precinct election commissions with tablets made it possible to provide their members with the necessary methodological materials and organize training in a difficult epidemiological situation. One of the activities of the CIS Observer Mission is the analysis of complaints received by the authorized bodies. In this regard, the Headquarters of the Mission sent letters to the Central Election Commission, the Supreme Court, the General Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic with a request to provide information on revealed violations, initiated criminal cases, as well as appeals related to the course of the election campaign and the results their consideration. The CIS Observer Mission continues to monitor the election campaign, focusing on the information support of the elections and compliance with the legislation during campaigning events.
