CIS Observer Mission: Parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan held at high level

Parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan were held at a high level and in an atmosphere of free expression of will, Chairman of the CIS observer mission Viktor Guminsky told at a briefing today. He said that the parliamentary elections were held in accordance with the Constitution and the constitutional law of the Kyrgyz Republic. During the elections, the election commissions of the Kyrgyz Republic ensured the realization of the right of citizens of the country to free expression of will. The elections were open, transparent and competitive. The mission notes that the great organizational work carried out by all levels of the election commission has yielded positive results. And the fact that the polling stations were equipped with a set of automatic and digital equipment made the election process transparent and brought it to a new level. “Everything was done by the technician. We are convinced of this. We note individual moments when equipment did not work, but the equipment also has its own requirements, for example, if the finger is sweaty, the equipment cannot read the fingerprint, etc. but technology is technology and the mission does not raise the question that the equipment could have counterfeited or falsified something somewhere,” Guminsky said. The international observer said that they intend to learn from their Kyrgyz colleagues this experience. The practical use of such equipment makes elections open and transparent. The automatic complex gave its positive result. “Observers of our mission monitored 857 polling stations. And they note the high level of organization and transparency of the voting process. All the necessary conditions were created for both national and international observers to carry out their observation mission. There were many observers at the polling stations. This also speaks of the guarantee of openness and transparency of the electoral process. Also in most cases, conditions were created for PWDs. This also indicates a high level of organization,” he stressed.
