Agriculture minister of Kyrgyzstan discusses further cooperation with the representative of FAO

Bishkek, Oct. 27, 2020. / Kabar /. Minister of Agriculture, Food Industry and Land Reclamation of the Kyrgyz Republic Tilek Toktogaziev met with Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the Kyrgyz Republic, Adnan Qureshi. The ministry’s press service reported that the sides discussed the readiness of further cooperation in the implementation of significant projects of the republic in the field of agriculture, the agroindustry in the field of fishing, consolidation of farmers and digitalization of the industry. The minister noted the importance of strategic partnership and thanked FAO for the effective projects being implemented in Kyrgyzstan. “We highly appreciate the contribution of FAO to the development of a significant industry in the republic and will definitely continue our strategic partnership. One of the important and urgent tasks, which I will pay special attention to, is the completion of the signing of a bilateral agreement between Kyrgyzstan and FAO on the functioning of the FAO country office," Toktogaziev said. FAO Representative Adnan Quresh congratulated the minister on his appointment and noted his readiness to support changes in the ministry. “It's great to see your vitality in this position, I hope we will work very closely together. We fully support your priorities and want to be a strategic partner in implementing effective reforms in the ministry. I am very pleased that you are shifting your focus to farmers and are ready to actively innovate,” said the FAO representative. Within the framework of the discussion, special attention was paid to the issues of adaptation to climate change and the upcoming cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and FAO within the framework of the Green Climate Fund. At the end of the meeting, the Kyrgyz minister of agriculture congratulated the UN system on the 75th anniversary of the organization and on World Food Day.
