ADB and UNICEF hand over three new medical ventilators to hospitals of Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Sept. 23, 2020 / Kabar /. Two new medical ventilators have been officially handed over to the Clinical Maternity Hospital #2 and the National Center of Oncology and Gematology of Kyrgyzstan on Sept. 22 to strengthen fight against COVID-19 in the country. One medical ventilator will be delivered to Osh Perinatal Center. These ventilators are suitable both for adults and children. They have already been put into operation today and are serving patients. Ventilators are critical medical equipment providing artificial respiration and mechanical movements of the lung for patients who cannot breath by themselves due to respiratory related conditions. With COVID-19 global pandemic, ventilators have been used globally to manage patients suffering from the severe effects of COVID-19. The supplies were delivered under ADB’s USD 200,000 emergency medical assistance to help the Kyrgyz Republic procure equipment through UNICEF. From April following supplies were delivered to the hospitals in the country: • 20,000 medical gloves • 2000 protection сoveralls • 2300 FFP2 masks • 300 endotracheal tubes • 3,000 prongs • more than 1,500 airway tubes • 8000 adult prongs and Guedel airway tubes • 10 oxygen concentrators with a capacity of 10 liters and oxygen flow splitters. All medical equipment and supplies are procured by UNICEF from reliable and certified manufacturers across the healthcare industry.
