India And UK Pleased With Their FTA Talks So Far

NEW DELHI, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- India and Britain are pleased with their talks on a free trade agreement (FTA) so far and the two countries hope to conclude a "fair, balanced and mutually beneficial" deal.

Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and British Trade Secretary Kemi Badenoch met on the sidelines of a G20 ministerial meeting in India and reviewed the ongoing FTA negotiations.

While expressing satisfaction over the last 12 rounds of negotiations, the two "exuded confidence" that the next round of negotiations will be "similarly successful", India's Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on Sunday.

The Indian and British teams are going to continue negotiations till end of August after which a review will be conducted at the higher level, it said.
