Helicopters Used to Contain Forest Fire in Nakhon Nayok

NAKHON NAYOK, March 31 (TNA) – Helicopters have been used to dump water to contain a fire on the mountains in Nakhon Nayok as officials are worried that the fire could spread to Khao Yai national park, located two kilometres away.

Attapon Charoenchansa, acting chief of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation ordered park officials to create firebreaks on Tabaek mountain to stop the fire’s spread to the national park.

The wildfires broke out on Khao Chaplu and Khao Laem mountains on March 28. It is believed that the cause of the fire could be burning and lightning. Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy is close to where the fire broke out.

Fire fighting vehicles and equipment were dispatched to battle the blaze but high wind, extreme hot weather, steep mountains make it difficult for the fire-fighting operation. (TNA)
