Zhaparov receives U.S. Ambassador Donald Lu due to completion of his diplomatic mission

Bishkek, May 14, 2021 . / Kabar / . President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov received on Friday U.S. Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Donald Lu on the occasion of completion of his diplomatic mission. An exchange of views on current areas and prospects for bilateral cooperation took place, the Kyrgyz president’s press service said. The head of state expressed gratitude to the U.S. side for assistance in the fight against the coronavirus infection pandemic. Sadyr Zhaparov congratulated Donald Lu on his appointment as U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, expressing confidence that in new capacity he would bring his knowledge and experience to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Donald Lu noted that in the current difficult time, the U.S. is ready to expand cooperation in the following areas: humanitarian assistance, combating further spread of the pandemic, and democratic transition. At the same time, the ambassador expressed readiness to increase cooperation in the issues of vaccinating the population against coronavirus infection and combating the consequences of the pandemic.
