Yemen relief-aid efforts discussed

Manama, July28 (BNA): Concerted relief-aid efforts in war-torn Yemen were today on the agenda as Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) director-general Mubarak Al-Hadi held a meeting with the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) Representative in Yemen Claire Bourgeois. The two sides discussed joint cooperation to dispatch humanitarian relief-aid consignments to Yemeni people, including Yemeni refuges in Somalia and Djibouti as well as Somalis, Djibouti and Sudanese who returned to their countries due to the war in Yemen. Al-Hadi briefed the UN official on the BRCS-led efforts to coordinate with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) associations to ensure relief aid reaches distressed Yemeni people. He also outlined the efforts of the association to send relief aid consignments to Syrian refugees, particularly in Lebanon, in addition to humanitarian operations and activities in Sudan and the Philippines and other countries which are plagued by unrest, turmoil, wars and natural disasters. The meeting was also attended by BRCS administrative and financial director Rana Youssef, Financial Advisor Ghazi Zubr and accountant Zainab Zayer.
