World Petroleum Congress will Enhance Qatar's Reputation, Organizing Committee Chief Says

Doha , December 06 (QNA) - Chairman of Qatar Organizing Committee Eissa Shahin Al Ghanim said Tuesday that the 20th World Petroleum Congress (WPC) will enhance the State of Qatar's international reputation as one of the leaders in the field of energy. Adding that this will provide Qatar a better negotiating position with energy companies. Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA) today on the margins of WPC, Al Ghanim stressed that there is a strong relationship between the reputation of a country and its ability to spread internationally. He stressed that Qatar's strategy in the energy field is to expand its investments outside. He said that WPC represents a step forward for applying that strategy. The congress will allow the participants to see Qatar's capabilities first hand, Al Ghanim said adding that this will allow the participants to reach a similar vision for having investment projects in Qatar. Asked about the congress itself, the Chairman of the organizing committee said that it has proved a success beyond all measures noting that the organizing committee received positive feedback from a lot of the participants. On the possibility of recommending investment projects in the congress' final statement, Al Ghanim told QNA that the WPC is primarily a scientific congress that does not have a final statement, and so it will not recommend any investment projects. He noted in that context, that around 200 working and research papers that came out of the congress. The papers will contain scientific ideas that will help develop the industry field. (QNA)
