World Bank to allocate USD 50 mln for development of Batken Oblast

Bishkek, Oct 4, 2022 / Kabar /. The World Bank will allocate USD 50 million for the development of Batken Oblast of Kyrgyzstan. This became known following the meeting of deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh with the World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Bjerde, which took place on Oct.3 in Bishkek.
The sides discussed topical issues of cooperation, as well as the tragic events on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border.
The parliamentarians noted that Kyrgyzstan invariably adheres to the position on the need to resolve disputes between the two countries exclusively by peaceful means and political and diplomatic methods.
Anna Bjerde expressed her regrets about the current situation. She noted that the World Bank will allocate funds for the development of Batken Oblast within the framework of the Regional Economic Development project. This program is designed for the next four years and is aimed at sustainable economic growth.
