Workshop on receiving, handling complaints held

Manama, Feb 15 (BNA): National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), in collaboration with Reformation and Rehabilitation Directorate (RRD), held a workshop titled "Mechanism of receiving and handling complaints ." The workshop targeted activating cooperation between the NIHR and all bodies concerned with human rights, including legislative branch; RRD; Ombudsman Office; Special Investigation Unit; and civil society organisations. It also aims at disseminating human rights culture through the development of specialized training programs based on national and international standards targeting various segments of the society. Experts in reformation and rehabilitation field Andrew jeans and Pat Maguire of NICO, Northern Ireland, addressed the workshop. They tackled a number of topics, comprising the importance of informing the inmates of the prison laws, inmates' rights, ways of filing a complaint, complaint progress stages, and reviewed concrete examples of complaints dealt with in Northern Ireland.
