Works minister receives Sudanese ambassador

Manama, Nov. 3 (BNA): Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf has lauded the advanced level of the Bahraini-Sudanese relations and the development of joint ventures, especially in the field of agricultural investment, highlighting the agreements signed recently in order to achieve food security and join the International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants. This came as the minister received here today the newly-appointed Sudanese Ambassador to Bahrain Abdulrahman bin Khalil Afandi. They reviewed ways of promoting bilateral relations and international topics of mutual interest as well as development projects expected to be implemented under the ministry's future plan and will have a significant impact on the economic level. The minister praised the ties bonding the two countries and exchange of expertise in the agricultural field, highlighting the agreement signed by both the countries regarding the allocation of Sudanese lands for Bahrain agricultural investment, which is considered a crucial step forward in the efforts aimed at upgrading the international and local levels of food security. The minister wished the ambassador every success in assuming his diplomatic assignment and hailed the deep-rooted bilateral relations and historical common interests.
