What is to be placed in Turkey is a radar system, says National Defense Minister Yilmaz

ESKISEHIR (A.A) - December 7, 2011 - Turkish National Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz said Wednesday that what was to be placed in Turkey was only a radar system. Speaking to reporters in the central Anatolian province of Eskisehir, Ismet Yilmaz said that "the radar system poses no threat to any one. It is a defense system that does not target any specific country". The radar would be used for NATO purposes and a Turkish officer will be present in the operation of the radar, Yilmaz stressed. Touching on the production of a domestic passenger plane, Yilmaz said that they were considering the provinces of Ankara and Eskisehir for the plane factory.
