Weekends at the Oasis return to Al Ain for final installment

AL AIN, 19th March, 2018 (WAM) -- Weekends at the Oasis, part of the 2018 Al Ain cultural programme organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, DCT Abu Dhabi, returns this weekend for the final installment of its heritage and family-focused event at Al Ain Oasis. Running on 23rd and 24th March, Weekends at the Oasis is curated to celebrate the heritage of the UAE and to allow the contemporary landscape of the Al Ain region to be explored through a variety of cultural experiences. The Oasis will host children’s workshops offering a range of arts and crafts projects for children of all ages to enjoy, as well as retail booths from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm. The weekend’s event will also offer a curated programme of activities to evoke a sense of shared nostalgia, where the public can enjoy screenings of shows from popular culture of the 70s and 80s, traditional Ayyala performances, food trucks and story-telling inspired by life within the Oasis. The popular café in the 1980s, Suhail Studio, one of the most famous photography studios in Al Ain, and the recordings of "Al Shaab" specialising in cassettes will also be available at the Oasis. The full Al Ain programme provides a variety of ways for visitors to interact with the Emirate’s cherished history, and has been curated to support the UNESCO theme ‘Protecting our Heritage and Fostering Creativity’. It will return to several iconic locations across the Emirate’s Garden City later in the year.
