We have treated 60,000 Somalis since August 17, says Dr. Kasap of Field Hospital in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU (A.A) - December 6, 2011 - Chief Doctor at the Field Hospital erected by the Turkish Ministry of Health in Mogadishu, Dr. Ozer Kasap, said Tuesday that they had treated around 60,000 Somalis since August 17 and distributed 10 tonnes of medicines to date. In an exclusive interview with the AA, Dr. Kasap has said that Turkish doctors continued to serve Somali people in the Field Hospital that was erected in the Digfer region of Mogadishu. "The Turkish Ministry of Health continues to provide humanitarian assistance. So far, we have treated around 60,000 Somalis. Cases of diarrhea, skin infections and upper respiratory problems are common among the children in Mogadishu while cases of diabetes, tuberculosis and kidney failures are common among the adults," Dr. Kasap noted. The second Field Hospital was opened by Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag and it will serve Somalis in the parliament region. The second Field Hospital will provide medical services in the fields of gynecology, internal medicine, and emergency, Dr. Kasap added.
