BAGHDAD, IRAQ (NINA) - The US-led international coalition will step up efforts to fight "Daesh" organization next year, the US special envoy to the United States, Brett McGurk has confirmed. "Our work in the coming year will require more efforts to stabilize the areas that Daesh has been expelled from," McGurk said in a statement, added, "Fighting in Syria is still ongoing. Anti-terrorism operations are expected to continue in the first quarter of 2018 ". He added "The focus will be on achieving stability, and the United States is ready to stay in Syria until we make sure that Daesh has defeated. Earlier, Coalition Representative Col. Ryan Dillon announced the presence of close to 1,000 of "Daesh" militants in Syria and Iraq. Russian President Vladimir Putin had earlier ordered the withdrawal of Russian troops from Syria after the announcement of the defeat of "Daesh." US President Donald Trump announced that Daesh had been expelled from Syria and Iraq almost entirely, but US forces would maintain their US military presence in both countries./ End
