Volunteer training programme launched

Manama, July2 (BNA): Following directives from Interior Minister, Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the General Director of Civil Defence, Brigadier Mohammed Abdulkareem Showaiter today gave the go-ahead for the training programme for security volunteers who will participate in the protection of the places of worship. The General Director expressed thanks and appreciation to all Bahraini volunteers from the four governorates for their dedication to carry their national duties of the protection of places of worships under the supervision of policemen, especially because they know the residents of their areas. The volunteers will carry organization tasks and assist in preventing gatherings in case of accidents. The training aims to teach volunteers the basic skills of firefighting, evacuation, transferring wounded and first aid, in addition to guiding people in emergencies to cooperate with the police at the site or in case of strange object to promote the concept of comprehensive civil defence.
