Volume of trade between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan in 6 months amounts to USD 568 mln

On the sidelines of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, a meeting was held between Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov and Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov, the press service of the Kyrgyz Cabinet reported. During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, including within the framework of the integration association. Akylbek Zhaparov noted that the official visit of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as the agreements reached during the 10th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Kazakh intergovernmental council, became clear evidence of positive dynamics in strengthening fraternal relations between the two countries. “The volume of trade between our countries for the six months of 2022 amounted to USD 568 million, which is 24% higher compared to the same period last year. This pleases us. At the same time, we have something to strive for. Regular and timely meetings will be an excellent tool for discussing and finding solutions to a number of issues that exist today, including in trade and transit areas,” Akylbek Zhaparov said. Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov expressed condolences in connection with the recent tragic death of Kyrgyz citizens in an accident in the Ulyanovsk region of Russia. “Our main goal is the full implementation of the tasks set by the heads of state and the further strengthening of Kazakh-Kyrgyz cooperation. In particular, an increase in the volume of mutual trade up to USD 2 billion,” said Alikhan Smailov. The sides also discussed the implementation of the project for the construction of the Industrial Trade and Logistics Complex in the area of ​​the Ak-Tilek and Karasu checkpoints, the increase in prices for diesel fuel in Kazakhstan, cooperation in the field of agriculture, as well as unimpeded crossing Kyrgyz freight vehicles on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh state border.
