Vice President Meets Russian Ambassador

BAGHDAD, Iraq (NINA) - Vice President Osama al-Nujaifi said that the bottlenecks in the political process and the failures it suffer requires dialogue and understanding under international auspices away from the logic of the winner and loser. Nujaifi met on Thursday with Russian Ambassador Maxime Maximov and discussed with him a series of files of mutual interest. Nujaifi stressed the importance of developing bilateral relations in all fields and the need to support Iraq in its fight against terrorism, as the threat of terrorism is a global danger that affects everyone. In discussing the political situation, Al-Nujaifi stressed that the bottlenecks in the political process and the failures it is experiencing require dialogue and understanding under international auspices aim to ensure the balance and unity of the country and identifying the paths that guarantee justice and help achieve progress for the benefit of all citizens, away from the logic of winner and loser. He added: "Therefore, the international conference is an umbrella through which the Iraqis achieve satisfactory solutions away from the uniqueness and agendas that do not respond to the interest of Iraq." As for the Syrian file, Nujaifi said: "we supports a political solution to ensure the cessation of the killings and destruction in Syria, and responds to the will of the Syrian people and their natural right to determine their future." He pointed out to the referendum to be held in the province of Kurdistan saying that it requires dialogue and discussion between the central government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, and not involve Kirkuk and the disputed areas in this referendum, and to take into account the provisions of the Constitution and its provisions in any action. For his part, the Russian ambassador conveyed the greetings of the Russian leadership to Nujaifi, stressing that he appreciates the assistance and recommendations of Nujaifi and his views in the development of bilateral relations and his vision in resolving the crises and problems that hinder advancement.
