Vatican secretary of state to visit Russia on August 21-23 - apostolic nunciature

MOSCOW, August 9. /TASS/. Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin will visit Russia on August 21-23, a source at the secretariat of the apostolic nunciature in Moscow told TASS on Wednesday adding that the cardinal was expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. "It has been confirmed that the Holy See’s Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin will visit Russia on August 21-23," the source said. "On August 23, he will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi," the apostolic nunciature added. However, TASS has not yet received an official confirmation from the Kremlin press service. Besides, the source at the apostolic nunciature in Moscow added that on August 22, the Vatican secretary of state would hold meetings with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill. During his visit, Parolin will also serve a mass at Moscow’s Roman Catholic cathedral. Read more
