Uzbekistan, India enhance hydropower cooperation

Bishkek, Aug. 17, 2022 / Kabar /. JSC Uzbekhydroenergo and India’s MACLEC Technical Project Laboratory Pvt. Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding, UzA reported.
At the meeting held in this regard, the Chairman of the Board of JSC Uzbekhydroenergo Abdugani Sanginov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Uzbekistan Manish Prabhat, and others noted that friendly ties between the two countries contribute to strengthening collaboration, including in hydropower industry.
The Chairman of the Board of JSC Uzbekhydroenergo Abdugani Sanginov sincerely congratulated the participants on the 75th Anniversary of Indian Independence. He paid special attention to the fact that in recent years Uzbekistan has paid great attention to the implementation of large-scale reforms planned in the hydropower industry.
“The company’s specialists determine the sites for new projects, entrepreneurs are provided with practical assistance in the development of business plans and project documentation, the choice of optimal technical solutions”, Head of Department of the JSC Uzbekhydroenergo A. Zokirov said. – To reduce the volume of imports, create convenience for entrepreneurs, and further establish the production of hydroelectric units under the Uzbek brand, talks are being held with companies from China and European countries. So far, hydroelectric units for micro and small hydropower plants have been imported. An important step was the signing between JSC Uzbekhydroenergo and India’s MACLEC Technical Project Laboratory Pvt. Ltd. of a Memorandum of Understanding, which provides for a reduction in the volume of imports and the establishment of the production of hydroelectric units under the national brand “Made in Uzbekistan”. The country plans to build a plant for this purpose.
The production of hydroelectric units will be established by the structural organization Suvsanoatmash of the JSC Uzbekhydroenergo in cooperation with India’s MACLEC Technical Project Laboratory Pvt. Ltd.
The MOU is considered the first significant document signed between two large companies.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Uzbekistan Manish Prabhat highly appreciated the friendship and cooperation between Uzbekistan and India, expressing confidence in the continuation of interaction between the two countries in the hydropower industry.
