US State Department: US Is Not Thinking To Establish Military Bases In Iraq
BAGHDAD / NINA / The State Department confirmed it is not thinking about establishing US military bases in Iraq.
The ministry spokesman, Jeff Rathqui in the summary of the Daily Press that "there is training and advice program to support the Iraqi government and security forces, and is implemented in Iraqi bases."
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey said that the "Pentagon" is considering at the moment to establish additional military bases in Iraq, on the front lines of the confrontation with the ISIS.
He said in remarks to reporters traveling with him on the plane that carried him to Italy yesterday, the plan, approved by President Barack Obama, include sending more US military personnel, and establish progress military base in Anbar province, which could be replicated in other parts of Iraq.
He added that such bases, which will likely be set up near the front lines; its mission will be to support the Iraqi forces in the fight against the terrorist organization ISIS, which controls large areas in northern Iraq and Syria. / End
