UNESCO regional meeting opens in Isfahan

Tehran, Oct 5, IRNA - Regional meeting of United Nations, Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) began in Isfahan province on Saturday.


Announcing this, head of Isfahan Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and
Tourism Department noted that international experts are taking part in
the event.

"Issues including marketing and protecting the designs of cultural
industries will be discussed in the six-day event," Ahmad Amin-Pour
said.

He stated that the experts from Denmark, India, Malaysia, Thailand,
Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan,
Uzbekistan and the Netherlands are attending the meeting.

Isfahan is an open museum of Islamic arts, architecture and
handicrafts and was thus named the 2006 'Cultural Capital' of the
Islamic world by the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
