UN Alliance of Civilizations Supports Efforts to Achieve MDGs, Says Al Nasser

Doha, April 28 (QNA) - The High Representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations HE Nassir bin Abdulaziz Al Nasser has expressed pleasure to participate in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Forum , which is set to open here on Monday. He noted that the Forum aimed at achieving the Millennium Development Goals as one of the six priorities of the Alliance of Civilizations for the next five-year period. HE Al Nasser said in remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA) today that the Forum organized by Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Diplomatic Institute under the patronage of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, will provide an opportunity to recall the United Nations Declaration on the Millennium in 2000, in which the heads of State and Government had underlined the collective responsibility to uphold the principles of human dignity, equality and equity at the global level. The UN Alliance of Civilizations supports all national, regional and global efforts to achieve the greatest possible progress in achieving the Millennium Development Goals as one of the most important tools that contribute to building a peaceful society, HE Al Nasser stressed. He added the Alliance of Civilizations plays a big role through capacity development activities in key areas such as youth and education. The Millennium Development Goals Forum aims to review the results of the fourth report of the Millennium Development Goals in Qatar 2012 and the statement of the most important achievements and challenges that prevent the achievement of some goals as well as the link between big development projects to be implemented in the state during the coming years.(QNA)
