Two arsonists jailed for five years

Manama, Dec.21 (BNA): The High Criminal Court today sentenced two defendants to five years in prison on charges of premeditated arson, destruction of movables for terror purposes and possession of firebombs. Advocate General, President of the Terrorist Crimes Prosecution Ahmed Al-Hammadi said that the case dates back to blaze which was reported in Hamad Town on October 26, 2014. Competent teams reported to the scene of the fire which was set to two tents and one power generator belonging to a parliamentary candidate. The two accused, who were detained in connection with other similar cases, admitted to the arson. The Public Prosecution levelled the above-mentioned charges against them, based on verbal testimonials, witnesses and technical evidence and referred them to the High Criminal Court to stand trial. The trial was conducted in the presence of the lawyers of the defendants who were given all legal guarantees.
